Madan Trayodashi- Valentine's Day of Kashmiri Pandits

This day is considered to be Valentine's Days for Kashmiri Pandits, dedicated to Husband Wife relationship or even Boyfriend girl friend. Male partner used to pamper their better half with sacred bath on river banks/lakes. Both used to decorate each other with flowers which was in abundance during this period in Kashmir. This was a day of celebration for unmarried people also as they used to visit river banks to look for companion and propose.

MAGAZINE-YAT is alive and warm !

MAGAZINE-YAT is alive and warm !

Kashmiris often talk of Kashmir-yat when it suits them under the present political turmoil after ethnic cleansing of KPs, three decades ago.

Magazine Family also got uprooted and scattered not only in various parts of India but else where out of India, in a few countries I am aware of, are: USA UK Canada Australia New Zealand Indonesia UAE (may be some more not to my knowledge).
One such part of the family is settled in Auckland New Zealand : Shiban (Pappu ji) son of late parents Pyari and BrijKrishen Magazine) with Priya ji (Rita) and their sons, daughters in law and infant grand daughter.

Whenever I would visit Sydney during last over a few years to spend time with Atul Meenakshi Sonja and  Sachika- Shiben would invite me to visit him in New Zealand ( it was only a "naa-vi tar" from Sydney, Pappu would emphasise) and each time I would promise to visit. This year I mustered enough patience to fill up a 50 page online Visa grant form with 75% irrelevant info. But promptly granted within a week. I visited Pappuji Magazine and family in Auckland New Zealand from Feb 26 to March 04 2019. It was home away from home. The warmth affection and care taken by Pappu ji, Priyaji, Sandeep and affectionate daughter in law Divya, reminded me of our child hood growth in one large house at zaindar Mohla and later on, bulk of the extended family living in three houses in Karan Nagar in close proximity of each other.

Auckland extension have justified adequately the traditions of oneness, respect , regard and affection for each other even in diversity, mention of which was made in my blog : http://tkmthoughts.blogspot.in/ and website www.magazinefamily.com

I hope the genext would continue to follow the traditions of connectivity and love and affection for each other.

with best wishes
